A popular pastor was on Monday stoned by an angry mob in Embu town after he was caught in a compromising situation with another man’s wife.
Witnesses recounted the morning incident in which the cheating woman’s husband followed the pastor’s car and watched it park outside a restaurant in which the two stayed for hours.
Upon tip-toing to the restaurant, the 50-year-old businessman reportedly raised alarm after he allegedly found the two in a compromising position.
An irate mob hurled stones on the man of the cloth's vehicle, hitting him on the head.
It took police efforts, led by Embu West police boss Francis Sang’ to rescue the preacher who ministers at Ena and Nembure shopping centres in the town.
A witness, Mr Samuel Migwi, said those who saw the errant pastor pick the businessman’s wife did not question him since he is a trusted evangelist.
“He (the husband) saw the two pass by his place of work near Naivas supermarket and trailed them. The residents supported him since he is a popular man,” Mr Migwi said.
The 'man of God's' vehicle was towed to the police station after it was deflated by the crowd that bayed for his blood.
