VIDEO: Sonko, Joho Attack Each Other In front of Uhuru

Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko on Saturday locked horns at an event President Uhuru Kenyatta was attending at Shika Adabu grounds in Likoni.

The clash between the two was sparked by sentiments from Governor Joho, who lamented that President Kenyatta had snubbed him during his over two-week tour in Mombasa.

"I'm saying this with a lot of humility, it is unfair that the President is in Mombasa for 16 days and I have not met with him. This is not right Mr President," said Joho.

When Sonko’s turn to speak came, the flamboyant Senator hit out at Governor Joho, accusing him of black mailing the Government.

“The other day, you told the President to prepare to be the official opposition leader after 2017 polls. Do you think you can threaten us with your few votes? How sure are you that you will win the elections again as a governor?” Sonko blatantly stated.

Joho seemed stung by Sonko’s remarks almost rising to interrupt him.

The Senator ordered the governor to allow him time to finish, where he went ahead to warn other politicians against insulting the President.

After Sonko was done speaking, Joho in a rejoinder  stated: “Nairobi senator, I am in ODM and you cannot expect me to campaign for Jubilee. Coastal people we are not confrontational and abusive.”

Sonko tried to stand again and make a comeback but he was asked to sit down by the Master of Ceremony.

President Kenyatta watched the exchange in amusement and when he stood to speak, he steered clear of the clash between the duo.

Uhuru was issuing 7,807 Certificates of Lease to squatters of the controversial 930-acre Waitiki farm.
