We Have Agreed on Jubilee Candidate for Nairobi Governor's Seat - MP Dennis Waweru Says

Jubilee aspirants for the Nairobi Governor's seat allied to Senator Mike Sonko have announced that they now have a candidate to face incumbent Evans Kidero.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke on Monday, Dagoreti Member of Parliament (MP) Dennis Waweru, who is part of the group calling itself 'team Nairobi', disclosed that they have reached an agreement and would soon unveil the candidate.

“We have agreed on the candidate and the lineup that will face Kidero... We are going to reveal the candidate at the right time,” Waweru stated.

The MPs sentiments come after the team attended a church service on Sunday in Roysambu constituency where they pledged to work together under Jubilee.

The Team Nairobi consists of Senator Sonko, Waweru, Nominated MP Johnson Sakaja and Bishop Margaret Wanjiru.

Speaking on Sunday, Sakaja emphasised that the team would stick together and support President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election

“We are the ones who started the National Alliance (TNA) and those trying to divide us on the basis of tribes should stop day dreaming,” Sakaja affirmed.

The Sonko-led team has been fiercely opposing former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth who recently announced that he would run for the City’s top seat under Jubilee.

Team Nairobi has termed Kenneth an outsider who has never supported President Kenyatta.

The infighting between the leaders compelled Kenyatta to plead with all Jubilee aspirants eyeing the top seat to work together if they wanted to defeat Kidero.
