1. Team Cameroon

Cameroon emerged winners in the African Cup of Nation (AFCON) 2017 after beating Egypt 2-1.

This is the fifth win for the country in the AFCON competition.

2. Superbowl

The world waited with baited breath for Superbowl, the annual championship game of the National Football League (NFL) in the US.

The New England Patriots were the champions in the 2017 game after thrashing Atlanta Falcons 34-28 in an overtime victory.

At the same time, Patriots quarterback, Tom Brady, won fourth Super Bowl MVP award by throwing for 466 yards and two touchdowns.

3. Trump's Directive on Immigrants Rejected

An executive directive issued by US President Donald Trump to bar citizens of seven Muslim-majority countries - Iraq, Syria, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen - from entering the US for 90 days was suspended by a federal appeals court.

The appeal court upheld an earlier ruling made US District Court Judge James Robart who stated that: “Trump's executive order adversely affects residents in areas of employment, education, business, family relations, and freedom to travel."

4. Akasha Brothers

The two sons of slain drug lord, Ibrahim Akasha, who were last week extradited to the US over trade of illegal drugs have been trending for a week now.

Emerging reports now indicate that they tried to bribe an official at the court a whopping Sh4 million to drag the extradition case. However, the middleman helping the two allegedly did not deliver the amount.

5. Over 20 Bodaboda Riders Arrested

Over 20 bodaboda riders have been arrested in connection with the burning of an Ongata Rongai matatu that hit and seriously wounded one of their own on Saturday.

"We have noted with grave concern that some boda-boda riders have developed a tendency of quickly mobilizing their members whenever an incident involving one of them happens and proceed to harass members of public or even destroy property like the incident in Nairobi.

"We wish to warn that this manner of hooliganism, disregarding traffic laws as well as other penal code laws will not be tolerated," the statement read in part.

6. Al Shabaab Denies Stealing BVR Kits

Terror group Al Shabaab has denounced Government's reports that it stole Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) kits during a raid at a police camp in Arabia, Mandera.

The terrorist noted that: "Kenyan Government should stop lying about the kit. It is true that the Mujahideen attacked a police camp and seized police vehicle, several rifles, and ammunition. But they did not take away any election equipment."

7. Lady Gaga

US singer Lady Gaga was on the trending topics following her performance at Superbowl's halftime. Gaga brought the message of inclusion to the US following the Presidency of Donald Trump which has appeared focussed on locking out immigrants.

The Grammy award winner used phrases like 'God Bless America' and 'This Land Is Your Land' and even quoted the Pledge of Allegiance: "One Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all,"

8. Kenyan Nurses

The Kenya National Union of Nurses officials will be in court today. The union officials are accusing the Secretary General, Seth Panyako, of abuse of office.
