What you Need to Know About American Choppers Seen at Kenyatta University

5 special American choppers caught the attention of most Nairobians, after they took over the city’s airspace.

Social media became awash with images of the choppers, which were reportedly on a reconnaissance mission.

The special aircrafts included President Obama’s Marine One and 4 Boeing V-22 Osprey aircrafts.

The five aircrafts landed at Kenyatta University then flew back to the Old JKIA airport where they were parked awaiting the arrival of the US president.

Officials said the pilots were on a drill and reconnaissance mission ahead of the arrival of the US president and his team on Friday, the Standard reports.

The V-22 Osprey aircrafts are meant to evacuate the US president in case of security emergency.

The Boeing website indicates that the V-22 Ospreys is a joint service multirole-combat aircraft.

It utilizes tiltrotor technology to combine the vertical performance of a helicopter with the speed and range of a fixed-wing aircraft.

With its rotors in vertical position, it can take off, land and hover like a helicopter.

Once airborne, it can convert to a turboprop airplane capable of high-speed, high-altitude flight.

This combination results in global reach capabilities that allow the V-22 to fill an operational niche unlike any other aircraft.
