This is Where Street Children In Nairobi Will Be Relocated To

Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has brushed off claims that he intends to kick out street children from the Central Business District when US president Barack Obama visits the country.

Kidero has instead announced a plan to construct a rehabilitation centre for the street children on a 40 acre piece of land set aside in Ruai.

According to a Star report a school, vocational centre and a training facility will be set up in the rehabilitation centre.

The county government also said a functional and fully equipped medical clinic will be set up in the centre.

The Standard reports that the educational institutions set up in the rehab centre, will eventually be centres of integration modeled on Starehe Boys Center and School, in which a third of the students will be admitted.

Once the streets are cleared the county government intends to incorporate vulnerable children from poor families -especially those who live in the slums- into the plan.

The project is a comprehensive plan between the county administration and the national government
