Why More Kenyans Now Prefer Raila to Uhuru

A recent survey by Infotrak Research and Consulting Firm has revealed that President Uhuru Kenyatta had lost popularity among Kenyans, while his political opponent CORD leader Raila Odinga gained the confidence of the citizenry.

The survey which was conducted between 6th - 9th November 2015, indicated that the Jubilee Government lost 10% approval, while President Kenyatta's popularity declined by 26% owing to the numerous corruption allegations against his administration, and the high cost of living in the country.

“Should the ruling administration fail to combat corruption and improve the economy, further dips in approval will not come as a surprise. The citizenry is disappointed,” read the report in part.

The Opposition on the other hand is said to be on the right track having gained 7% approval ratings since last year.

The report further indicated that over 60% of Kenyans thought the Country was moving in the wrong direction, echoing the sentiments presented last year when a similar percentage felt the country was on a downward lane.

“A reduced percentage of Kenyans feel that the country is moving in the right direction and conversely the increase in peolple who do not know what direction the country is tking,” read the report.

According to the report, in 2014 most Kenyans were mainly bothered by the high cost of living and unemployment, while corruption only came in fifth. Today, most Kenyans are said to have realised that corruption was the root to all problems in the country.

The survey which sampled 1000 respondents, was conducted in 25 counties across the former eight provinces in the country.
