Why Nyeri Youth are Shying Away From Uwezo Fund

Youth groups from Nyeri county are now shying away from applying for uwezo fund which is geared towards improving young people's lives financially.

Uwezo fund which is offered without charging any interests, is now less popular among the youth compared to saccos which charge a 1 percent interest.

The process involved in applying and finally accessing the cash has proved to be a long and diffucult one.

The youth now opt to turn to saccos and corporates for financial support whose process seem to be much shorter and worthwhile in the long run.

According to the youth, seeking financial support from saccos comes with a lot of benefits as compared to uwezo funds which just offer a minimum loan of Sh 50,000.

Saccos and Corporates for financial support offer guidance and oversight to the youth upon application for loans.

The youth seem to be more interested with guidance unlike just being dished out money to do their projects.
