Why Raila is Bitter Over Eurobond Money - Jubilee

More than 35 Jubilee legislators now claim they know why CORD leader Raila Odinga has been demanding the disclosure of projects, that were funded by the controversial Sh250 Billion Eurobond.

Led by Majority Leaders in the Senate and National Assembly Kindiki Kithure and Aden Duale, the leaders said that Raila was seeking revenge after projects he had proposed were denied funding.

According to a statement read by the two at Serena Hotel in Nairobi, the Opposition Chief was criticizing use of the money since he was denied an opportunity to benefit from the loan.

“Raila Odinga and his shadow partners had lined up mega projects for government financing before the last General Election and he owes the country an explanation,” they claimed.

“These controversial projects are massive kickback schemes. Mr Odinga is obviously angry at the Jubilee administration for its refusal to finance these rackets,” said Duale .

According to them, projects that were favoured by the former Prime Minister include; Greenfield Airport, the urban commuter train project and the National Youth Service equipment programme.

The Jubilee bigwigs further claimed that the CORD leader was only interested in politics, rather than the truth concerning how the loan was used.

“The time for charades, bluster, empty rhetoric, musical chairs and wild allegations is over,” said Kindiki.

The former Premier has constantly alleged that the government cannot account for Sh140 Billion from the Eurobond. Odinga has also on several occasions challenged the government to mention specific projects it funded using the Eurobond proceeds.

However, Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich  refuted Odinga's claims releasing a document explaining how the money was spent.
