Why Uhuru Left Nairobi to Work from Mombasa

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday revealed, amid numerous speculations, why he had pitched camp in the Coastal region for over three weeks now.

In an interview on Citizen TV, the President sought to clear doubt that his stay in Mombasa was affecting State operations, stating that the Government was fully functional.

“Its all part of encouraging cohesion and ownership, we are all Kenyans and government can be anywhere. Government can operate from any part of the Republic and that is part of what I want to show.” Kenyatta said.

President Kenyatta further said that this year he intended to do things differently and would at times operate from outside Nairobi.

“This is part and parcel of saying Kenya is one and these functions belong to all of us, I intend to do a lot more work outside Nairobi,” he stated.

While in the Coast, the President has been receiving Security and Intelligence briefs as well as individual Ministerial updates.

During his stay there, he has issued thousands of title deeds, inspected government projects in the region as well as holding meetings with the youth, business and political leaders.

The Head of State could reportedly remain at State House Mombasa until the end of January.
