Wiper Holds Meeting Over Discord Within Party

The Wiper Movement has convened an urgent in-house meeting to discuss the recent wrangles between party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and other area leaders.

A section of Wiper leaders are said to have been angered by exchanges between Musyoka and some of his lieutenants which are now threatening to cause a fallout.

The party is, therefore, set to deliberate on the discord witnessed in the recent past over claims that Musyoka has been imposing on the electorates the leaders he prefers.

Wiper Executive Director Jared Siso confirmed the planned meeting, adding that they would discuss the forthcoming primaries set for April among other party issues.

Musyoka has also been accused of endorsing Kitui Governor Julius Malombe for re-election, an issue that has caused a rift between him and the Senator David Musila who has expressed interest in the seat.

On Wednesday, eight MPs declared their support for Musila maintaining that they would do everything possible to ensure he occupied the seat during the August 8 polls.

The former Vice President has, however, denied backing Malombe noting that both the gubernatorial aspirants were members of his party, therefore, he would never favour anyone.

Musyoka has also been involved in altercations with Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama who at one point even walked out on him.

The meeting is also supposed to discuss the party's position in the ongoing negotiations by Opposition leaders in the NASA alliance to get a presidential flagbearer.

The Wiper leader has on several occasions been rumoured to be uncomfortable in NASA as negotiations for the presidential nominee continue.

Nonetheless, despite speculations that Kalonzo might bolt out of NASA, he has severally maintained he will not leave the opposition.
