Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka Reveals He Proposed Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto as NASA Flag-bearer

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has thrown a spanner in the works of the National Super Alliance (NASA) after he revealed that he had proposed Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto as flag-bearer.

Kalonzo on Wednesday disclosed that he had pushed for Governor Ruto to be named as NASA flag bearer as a compromised candidate, but his co-principals in the coalition rejected the idea.

“Let me disclose that initially I had proposed and was pushing for Governor Isaac Ruto to be our presidential flag bearer as a compromised candidate as I deputize him but my colleagues were not ready for that. I was also ready to deputize any other principal,” said Kalonzo.

He added that he held several closed-door meetings with his NASA co-principals, Musalia Mudavadi (ANC), Isaac Ruto (CCM) and Moses Wetangula (Ford Kenya) to back his proposal.

The former Vice President noted that he was ready to deputize Ruto but his colleagues were not ready for the idea and backtracked on the proposal after Odinga pleaded with them to support him promising to serve for only one term.

“Everyone knew that Kalonzo-Mudavadi pair was to send Jubilee home. My brother (Raila) pleaded with us to support him promising to serve for only one term and we said yes so long he keeps the promise,” stated Kalonzo.

Kalonzo, however, called on NASA supporters to throw their weight behind Odinga and send Jubilee home and highlighted that the deputy position he got in the coalition was powerful.

Speaking to Radio Citizen, he added that there will be a lot for NASA and Kenyans, in general, to celebrate after this year’s August 8 polls.
