Raila Odinga Holds Talks With United Democratic Party (UDP) to Join NASA

The National Super Alliance (NASA) could sign a new deal with one of the the country's political parties as it casts its nets wider to consolidate support ahead of the General Election.

United Democratic Party (UDP) leader Cyrus Jirongo has disclosed that he has been holding talks with NASA flag bearer Raila Odinga to discuss if they could work together.

Jirongo further revealed that he had already outlined his terms to Odinga and was awaiting a response from the ODM chief.

He, however, vowed to mobilise resources and contest for the presidency should the anticipated deal with NASA fail to materialise.

The former Lugari Member of Parliament (MP) warned the Opposition leaders against ignoring him as he could cause significant damage to their ambitions.

Jirongo also denied allegations that he was working with Jubilee Party to split NASA votes in the Western region.

The former MP had earlier on opposed Odinga's candidature claiming that the Western area, which has a significant number of voters, had been shortchanged in the Coalition's deal.

Bringing UDP on board will be a boost to the former Prime Minister's presidential bid as he seeks to consolidate the crucial Luhya vote block with the August polls fast approaching.

Jubilee has made several attempts to make in-roads in the vote-rich region that could determine the winner of the forthcoming elections.
