A witch doctor's advice almost got a woman killed after claiming that she was responsible for the disappearance of children in the area.
It is reported that Peter Otieno and his wife on Thursday met a witchdoctor from Tanzania who told them that their neighbour, Sarah Awino knew the whereabouts of their lost child.
Area Chief George Omuono arrived in time at the scene where Ms Awino had already started being battered by villagers.
“The couple called villagers who started to beat Awino and threatened to burn down her house if she didn’t produce the missing child,” Chief Omuono was quoted by the Star.
Rongo police boss Jonathan Muganda confirmed the incident saying they had launched a search for the witchdoctor who had gone missing.
Muganda said that when captured, the witch doctor would face charges of incitement and creating tension.
