Woman Who Wanted to Stop Mark Too Burial Collapses at JKIA

A rare spectacle was witnessed at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Monday morning after a woman, who initially wanted to stop the burial of former nominated Member of Parliament (MP) Mark Too, collapsed.

Fatuma Ramadhan was heading to the former MP's burial in the company of her 17-year old son and her lawyer Danstan Omari when she passed out.

“We had checked in at around 6.30am and were waiting to board a plane. While seated and waiting to be served coffee, she just collapsed.

“Medical personnel from the Port's Health department took her into an ambulance to Guru Nanak Hospital,” Mr Omari stated.

According to the lawyer, Ms Ramadhan had been stabilised and the doctors were still trying to discover what led to her collapsing.

Ms Ramadhan had earlier moved to court to stop the burial of the former MP on grounds that the son had been excluded by the family in the burial plans.

She later withdrew the case after the family agreed to recognise the son and went ahead to pay for her air ticket to attend the burial in Eldoret.

The Former MP will be laid to rest at his home in Kapsaret, Uasin Gishu County, on Monday in an event attended by various dignitaries including President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Too is credited for his role in propelling President Kenyatta into national politics.

In 2001, he resigned as a nominated MP to pave way for Kenyatta to be nominated to Parliament and eventually to the cabinet - a process that was instrumental in preparing the current President to contest for Presidency in the 2002 election.

Since then, Mr Too and the current President enjoyed a good relationship until his demise on New Year's eve.
