Worshipers Discover Petrol in Eldoret

Worshippers at a church in Eldoret Uasin Gishu County, discovered petrol from what used to be a well, after an afternoon choir practice.

Terming the Saturday discovery as a miracle due to their faith in God, residents of Tairi Mbili streamed to the well from which they had never imagined petrol would be discovered.

One of the worshippers at ‘Gospel to the World Faith Ministries’ Elias Onyango, said that they first smelt the petrol before noticing that the fumes emanated from the well.

“We had completed our singing practice on Saturday when we smelt something. On drawing closer, we found it was oil,” Onyango said.

The elated residents hoped to improve their livelihood, warning the government against interfering in their discovery.

‘I am very happy because my life has changed completely. I drew 20 litres in the morning which I will sell. The government should not get involved at all because it is here that I have found my source of income,” Onyango added.

According to Stephen Oliwa, another resident, they had no idea that oil would be sourced from that well, but ruled out any possibility of a leakage from nearby firms.

“We have asked around if there might have been a leakage and found out there haven’t been one and the nearby Clean Gas company cannot reach this side. This is a discovery,” said Oliwa.

To test the quality of the petrol, they filled some in a motorcycle which picked up normally.
