Wundanyi MP Thomas Mwadeghu Accuses ODM Officials of Ruining Raila Odinga's Presidential Bid

Wundanyi Member of Parliament (MP) Thomas Mwadeghu and his supporters have accused the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Legal Officer Tony Moturi and Director of Communications Phillip Etale of being part of a cartel “sabotaging party leader Raila Odinga’s interests.”

Mwageghu was addressing a press briefing concerning the party primaries held in Taita Taveta, where he was involved in a heated verbal exchange with the two party officials.

Led by the ODM Chairman of Taita Taveta County, Mwadeghu's supporters accused the officials of lying to the public about conducting hearing of disputes from the party primaries.

"Why are you lying to us, when did you sit to hear the petition by our leader? You are the people who are destroying our ODM and Baba’s support base at the grassroots. Tell us when you will be hearing our petition," one charged supporter told reporters.

The supporter, who sevarally evaded Mwadeghu's attempts to calm him down, accused the officials of serving the interests of a select few.

"If you have taken someone’s money, you can as well give it back, we demand justice instead of taking us in circles," added the enraged supporter.

On the other hand, Wundanyi ODM official Brendan Mwashinga warned Odinga that Mwadeghu would leave the party just like Funyula MP Paul Otuoma if he was not declared winner in the Taveta polls.

The group was protesting against a delay to award the MP the gubernatorial certificate after winning the recently conducted nominations.
