KTN Anchor Ahmed Darwesh Passes Away

KTN Swahili Anchor Ahmed Darwesh passed away on Monday evening at Mater Hospital after being immobilised by diabetes earlier in the day.

Darwesh was later rushed to Mater hospital from his South C home where he breathed his last.

His command of the Swahili language was noted by many, with his audience only getting to see and listen to him for the last time, during Sunday's 7pm bulletin.

He is remembered by his colleagues at the Standard Group and his former workmates as a humble and very professional man.

"Even at work, he paid for too many lunches that I can't count, usually at a selection of Swahili restaurants with delicious food I couldn't yet afford," NTV's Larry Madowo paid his tribute.

"Thank you for making me laugh every day, thank you for the many times we had lunch together, thank you for being there for me when I needed to talk to someone, thank your for your generosity and thank you for serving this country diligently. I'm sad Daru, so so sad," Friday Briefing Anchor, Betty Kyalo said on Instagram.

Rest in Peace Daru. Always so kind to everyone you met. We belong to God and to God we shall return. Rest well.
