Arrogant Police Commander Angers Kavuludi Board

A senior police officer on Thursday angered the National Police Service Commission (NPSC) vetting board by responding rudely to questions during his grilling in Kisumu County.

Suba Traffic Commander Washindo Mwalungo, gave the panelists a hard time when asked to explain his M-Pesa transactions and why he was using the title of Inspector while his badge indicated he was a Sergeant.

Trouble started when the Commissioners inquired about money he had sent to one Mr Abdulrahim, whom Mwalugo described as a neighbour who helped him build a house.

When the vetting panel told the officer to refer to Abdulrahim as his contractor, he replied: “He is not my contractor. This is a small building, and the one constructing it is not fit to be called a contractor. This man is assisting me to put up a small house. A contractor puts up a whole house or whatever”.

“Is that definition according to your dictionary?” Asked Commissioner Murshid Mohamed.

“I don’t have a dictionary, by the way,” responded the officer.

Upon being put to task over a document he used when performing duties of an 'Inspector', Mwalungo boldly said that he didn't need any evidence to prove his position and people should recognise him by how he walks.

Enraged by the exchange, the vetting panel threatened to kick out the police boss accusing of him disrespecting the Commissioners.

“I don’t wish to continue interviewing this officer. You come in with a chip on your shoulder and an attitude as big as this yet you don’t know which entity you are addressing? Do you know this vetting will consider if you will stay in the service or not?” threatened one of the panelists.
