After Judge Was Stabbed in Court, See What CJ Maraga Has Ordered

Chief Justice David Maraga on Wednesday dispatched a team to the Nakuru Law Courts hours after a resident magistrate was stabbed during a session on Tuesday.

Maraga directed Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu to visit the court and assess the situation that raised eyebrows over security in the courts.

The Deputy CJ was also instructed to meet the Resident Magistrate Eunice Kelly who was stabbed by one Michael Kihoro after she handed him a three-year jail term.

Maraga warned that the Judiciary will not be intimidated by “cowardly acts” stating that stern action would be taken against Kihoro.

“I wish them a quick recovery and we will not be intimidated by such cowardly acts," Maraga affirmed.

Resident Magistrate Kelly found herself in trouble on Tuesday when she convicted Kihoro, an assault suspect, to imprisonment.

Barely a minute after she had finished handing the sentence, Kihoro unleashed a screwdriver, stabbed the complainant before he pounced on the magistrate and inflicted injuries on her hands.

Luckily enough, police managed to arrest the suspect taking him into custody.

The two were taken to the Aga Khan Hospital where they were treated and discharged.
