12 Drug Lords Arrested In Mombasa

12 drug lords (8 Kenyans, 3 Italians and a Mauritian) were arrested in Mombasa on Thursday night following a successful operation by police.

Among the arrested was a Kenyan businessman only identified as Bosire, who was wanted for several offences related to drug trafficking.

This comes just under a week after Coast Regional Coordinator Nelson Marwa issued a one-week ultimatum to the Ukunda Officer Commanding Station (OCS) to arrest Bosire for masterminding heroin sale in Ukunda, Diani and Likoni areas.

He had warned that time was running out for other drug peddlers still engaging in the illicit trade at the Coast, and declared that the government would not relent in the fight against the vice.

All the suspects were scheduled to be charged in court on Friday morning.

Kenya has lately sustained a crackdown on drug trafficking activities since the January extradition of the notorious Akasha brothers to the United States (US).
