Kirinyaga Governor Joseph Ndathi Reveals Plan to Distribute Sh30 Million Fake Money

Police in Kirinyaga County are on high alert following allegations that a section of politicians are set to distribute Sh30 Million in fake Kenyan currency.

Governor Joseph Ndathi told reporters that tricksters masquerading as his agents were allegedly planning to distribute the money to unsuspecting residents.

He argued that the perpetrators had the sole purpose of poisoning the voters against him during the ongoing party nominations in the county.

"Once a voter is given the fake money unknowingly and goes to a shop to buy goods, he will be told by the shop owners that the currency is fake. Such a potential voter gets humiliated by the shop owners and blames it on me," he lamented.

The Governor also alleged that goons had been hired to cause chaos and mayhem while wearing reflective jackets bearing the County Government logo during the Jubilee nominations in order to reflect him negatively to the voters.

"The county government had bought the jackets for the area boda boda riders which the masterminds of the plot will buy from the operators and wear them as they unleash terror," the Governor accused.

County Police Commander Joseph Nthenge confirmed that the Governor had alerted them on the alleged scheme but maintained that it was being treated as a commonplace accusation.

"As for now we are treating the matter as mere allegations but we have put our security agents on high alert in the event of the occurrence of such an incident," he explained.
