The stage is set for the most anticipated showdown in the Jubilee Party primaries which will see Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko go head to head with former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth.
Sonko, who showcased some of the work he had done over the past few years in a feature aired by a local TV channel on Tuesday evening, has often reiterated his desire to be the next Nairobi governor and the first hurdle will be to beat the former MP.
The rivalry between the two was sparked when Kenneth allegedly described Sonko using derogatory remarks with the latter responding by accusing Kenneth of misappropriating funds during his tenure in the civil service.
Kenyans have split opinion on the two, with Sonko extremely popular among the lower-middle class due to his spirited efforts to fight in settling land disputes, taking care of funeral expenses and paying fees for the under-privileged in slums.
Kenneth on the hand resonates well with the upper-middle class and upper-class citizens who describe him as an eloquent leader with well laid-out strategies for the city.
Having previously served in a managerial position at Kenya Reinsurance Corporation, many well-off Kenyans consider him to be the right man to lead the country's capital city due to his articulate nature and structured thoughts.
Sonko, who often speaks his mind out on issues he deems oppressive, has in the past threatened to quit Jubilee claiming that some top party officials were determined to sabotage his gubernatorial bid.
It will be interesting to see how the battle between the two turns with the primaries expected to be held on Wednesday.
