President Uhuru Kenyatta has sent Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi to Tanzania to attend the burial of 30 students who were killed in a bus crash on Saturday.
The children from St. Lucky Vincent Private School in Arusha died after the minibus they were travelling in skidded off the road and fell into a gorge near the Ngongoro crater.
According to district commissioner for Karatu Theresia Mahongo, the crash occurred at around 9 am.
They were on their way to do a joint mock examination with a partner school.
Reports from an eyewitness indicated that the number of victims who died was 32 (29 children, two teachers and the driver).
The bodies of the victims were transferred to the Arusha City mortuary while survivors were rushed to the hospital.
