Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso Rejects 'Your Excellency' Title

Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso has asked residents not to address her as ‘Your Excellency’.

Speaking at the Bomet Green Stadium during a clean-up campaign, Dr Laboso stated that what mattered to her was the quality of service and not titles.

“I am not interested in designated seats being ferried from one function to another where am presiding. I will be sitting on seats used by other members of the community,” Governor Laboso stated.

In the past, former Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto had been accused of enjoying using a special seat during his functions.

The Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) Leader often had employees of the county government ferry the seat from one function to the other.

Dr Laboso was sworn in as the first Bomet woman governor on August 22 in a ceremony that was graced by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The former Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly won the election after she garnered 176,712 votes against Ruto's 86,282 votes.
