Abduba Dida Denies Supporting NASA Leader Raila Odinga

Alliance for Real Change leader and presidential candidate in the concluded elections Abuba Dida has denied claims that he has stepped down for NASA chief Raila Odinga.

Dida, who earlier reports claimed would not participate in the presidential election scheduled for October 17, stated that he had been misquoted by the media.

He expressed disappointment in a story carried on some media outlets adding that he had not uttered such words.

Speaking to a local daily, Dida threatened to take legal action against those who published the stories adding that the reports sparked anxiety among his supporters.

He divulged that after the allegations, he received numerous calls from a section of his supporters who sought clarification on whether he had joined NASA.

"I'm not even aware where I said these words. I'm still in shock. A lot of people, my friends from Europe, Russian and all over the world have been calling me and currently I am overwhelmed by the number of calls I have to answer," he told the Star.

According to the previous reports, Dida had announced that his decision to back Odinga was informed by his belief that the NASA leader will carry the day in the repeat election.

"From President Uhuru Kenyatta's reactions after the Supreme Court ruling, even a class one kid will tell you that Raila Odinga will win the election in November if the election is free and fair. Uhuru knows very well that he is a one-term president. I will not contest, I'll support Raila Odinga, he means well for this great nation," Dida had allegedly stated.

After the IEBC declared President Kenyatta as the August 8 election winner, Dida conceded defeat before the Supreme Court nullified the win.

Meanwhile, the electoral body has announced that the repeat presidential election will be held on Tuesday, October 17.

In a statement issued by IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati, the body, however, indicated that only President Kenyatta and Odinga would be on the ballot paper.
