Farah Maalim Files Petition Against Garissa Township MP Aden Duale

Former National Assembly Deputy Speaker Farah Maalim has filed a petition contesting the re-election of Garissa Township MP Aden Duale.

Maalim, who unsuccessfully ran for the same seat on a Wiper ticket, on Tuesday filed the case at the High Court seeking nullification of Duale's win.

Following the National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga's victory in the presidential petition, various leaders who lost in the August polls have headed to court.

At the same time, Abdirahman Husseinweytan Mohamed has also filed a petition to challenge the election of Omar Mohamed Maalim as Mandera East MP.

Others who have also gone to court after losing their seats include Ex-Embakasi South MP Irshad Sumra who wants Wiper candidate, Musili Mawathe's election nullified.

Sumra has also requested the High Court to order for a recount of the votes.

In Kirinyaga County, Narc-Kenya Party leader Martha Karua has presented documents challenging Governor Anne Waiguru's win.

She filed the election petition at the Kerugoya Law Courts on Tuesday alongside her legal team.

After Waiguru was declared the winner in August, Ms Karua refused to concede defeat claiming that the counting and tallying of the results were not properly conducted by the electoral officials.
