1 Shot Dead, Several Injured as Police Clash With NASA Supporters

1 person has been killed and several others have been hospitalised with gunshot wounds after National Super Alliance (NASA) supporters clashed with police officers in Nyanza region.

According to reports, at least 8 people have been admitted to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Hospital with gunshot wounds.

The victims claimed they were dragged out of their houses and clobbered, some shot by anti-riot police.

According to the Nation, Mr George Odhiambo was allegedly shot at Mamboleo and is said to have succumbed to his injuries. His body is yet to be moved to the morgue.

In Migori, the victim, identified as Mr Jossy, was shot near Florida Pub in Nyasare estate by the anti-riot police.

He was shot in the thigh and was taken to Migori Hospital for treatment.

Police claimed he was part of a mob that had blocked the busy Kenya-Tanzania road.

No activity has been going on in Migori town since Wednesday with elections flopping in nearly all the constituencies.

Elsewhere, President Uhuru Kenyatta cast his vote on Thursday morning in his hometown of Gatundu accompanied by First Lady Margaret Kenyatta and the area Member of Parliament Moses Kuria.

Moments after voting, the President addressed members of the press and stated that it was everyone's democratic right to vote or not to vote.

He also stated that he was yet to receive a comprehensive report on the attack on some IEBC officials but assured the nation that adequate action would be taken.

On Wednesday, NASA leader Raila Odinga had asked his supporters to steer clear of polling stations and urged them not to engage in any form of violence.
