Sonko Unveils New Plan For Nairobi CBD

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has unveiled a city beautification programme that will especially target the Central Business District (CBD).

As part of the new plan, the county will plant flowers and grass along major roads and pavements in the city.

He further ordered for metal bars to be put up along pavements to prevent unnecessary accidents.

Speaking after an impromptu tour of the CBD, Sonko affirmed that the decision was informed by his desire to see Nairobi compete favorably with other world-class cities.

"Nairobi is a commercial hub. We need to invest on transforming it to continue attracting more tourists and investors," he stated.

On Friday night, Sonko made a night visit to the CBD where he inspected the recently acquired pothole patching machines in use along Moi Avenue.

He further interacted with businesspeople in the area and answered their questions.

Nairobi has recently been in the media spotlight following a surge in cases of muggings and robberies.

Governor Sonko announced the formation of an Anti-Mugging squad that would work with police to deal with the gangs.

He has since been assuring residents that the city is safe.
