Wiper deputy Secretary-General Peter Mathuki has stated that the 'swearing-in' of party leader Kalonzo Musyoka was not in the best interest of the NASA co-principal.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke on Thursday, Mathuki revealed that Wiper prioritised swearing-in Kalonzo in 2022 rather than as the deputy people's president.
"What we as Wiper are really looking forward to is for him to be sworn in as the president of Kenya in 2022,” Mr Mathuki told Kenyans.co.ke.
Mathuki also maintained that Wiper was in NASA to stay and remarked that the disagreements were expected since NASA is a big family.

He further dismissed reports that Kalonzo would support his co-principal Raila Odinga's presidential bid in 2022 noting that the Wiper leader had put aside his stub at the Presidency twice to support the NASA leader.
Mathuki, however, stated that the oath was being discussed by the principals, who will communicate on the way forward.
In the interview, he dismissed allegations that Wiper and other affiliate parties in NASA were forging a completely different alliance in 2022 to enable them to have a real chance at the presidency.
Wiper deputy party leader Farah Maalim had earlier on expressed his fears of the coalition surviving until the 2022 political season.
He remarked: “The country is at a crossroads and it is difficult to predict the future. All I can state is that the two coalitions — Jubilee and NASA — are collapsing. A search for totally new formations has just begun.”

Maalim had opposed the 'oath' from the start and in the recent past, came out to ask Kalonzo to cancel the exercise.
