2 Reasons Why Babu Owino Wants to Use M-Pesa Paybill to Fundraise

Babu Owino, the ousted Embakasi East Member of Parliament (MP)  has revealed his plan to launch a Paybill number in order to solicit funds from his supporters and well-wishers.

Speaking during an interview on NASA TV on Monday, Babu disclosed that he needs money to finance the appeal of the lost election petition.

"I want to work on the issue of the Paybill because this process is financially exhausting, it can destroy anyone," the MP expressed.

According to the vocal MP, the money collected from his supporters will also be used to bankroll his campaigns if the appeal is dismissed by the courts.

"I need to pay my lawyers and I also need to prepare in case there will be a by-election," he added.

In his financial appeal, Babu stated: "I will require support from NASA supporters who believe in NASA ideology so that we don't lose this seat and I believe we will never lose the seat (Embakasi East MP post)."

He further indicated that he was planning to dispute the nullification of the last election through all the available legal mechanisms including seeking the overturning of the ruling by the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court.

"We will go full force. We will have to utilize all the dispute resolution mechanisms by using the court system to correct the "injustice" in the High Court ruling (election nullification)," he stated.

He further claimed that he would oppose any plans to induct Justice Joseph Sergon, who nullified his election, as an Appellate Judge (Judges who review arguments raised during trials in court) terming him "unfit to serve in the judiciary."

Babu equally expressed his confidence in winning should there be a by-election claiming that he would floor any competitor fair and square in the ballot.
