Uncertainty looms over plans to hold a free medical camp by Wajir County Woman Representative Fatuma Gedi Ali after the event was blacklisted by the county government.
Ms Fatuma had advertised for the camp to be held on Tuesday at Township primary school - a function where Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa is scheduled to attend to launch food distribution together with the medical camp.
The day's activities are meant to offer general consultation and treatment, blood pressure and blood glucose check-up, cervical and breast cancer screening, TB, diabetes, arthritis, fistula screening, and gynecology checkup.
Residents will be provided free wheelchairs and medicine where needed.

However in a notice seen by Kenyans.co.ke, the County Chief Officer Medical services Mr Noor. M.Sheikh directed all the county health staff to keep away from the camp for the county government had not approved it.
"All county department of health staff in Wajir County are hereby notified and advised not to participate or attend the planned Medical Camp organized by the County Woman Representative that is scheduled to take place on 3/4/2018 at Township primary school.
Please note that the purported Medical Camp does not have the blessings of the county government of Wajir and as such this letter serves as an advisory for all our staff to stay away from the medical camp," the statement read in part.
Wajir County nominated MCA Meimuna Said criticized the county government for sabotaging Fatuma's effort to provide free medical camp to Wajir residents
"It is a shame the county executive has resorted to this. You can show off your muscle but not at the expense of sick locals in Wajir County. The Women Rep is entitled to do any project whatsoever without consulting the county government. Consultation is a courtesy," she wrote on Facebook
Users online agreed with her sentiments with one stating: "Ill-informed and unfortunate. The poor and the sick who'd have benefitted from the Medical Camp just got robbed of this necessity."
