Nairobi's Dangerous Female Gangster Arrested

Police this week arrested a dangerous female gangster who has been terrorising Nairobi residents.

Lavender Akinyi Ogilo is the suspected gang leader of a group that has been breaking into houses in Muthaiga, Lavington and Kileleshwa.

She was arrested at her house in Ruaka and the gang she leads has been behind a series of burglaries in the last three years.

According to Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti, Ms Ogilo is dangerous the same as the gang he leads.

"She is dangerous and operates with armed gangsters who are still at large," a police statement read.

The suspect is currently being held at Kilimani Police Station.

In 2015, there were reports that a group of three men and a woman were targetting victims in their houses.

It is alleged that the woman would knock the door and the men would force their way in as soon as it was opened.

Last year, CCTV footage caught a group of two men and a woman breaking into an apartment in one of Nairobi's upmarket estates.

The incident took place at daytime and the robbers made away with a TV, laptop and jewellery from the house.
