A politician who vied for the Machakos gubernatorial seat in 2013 was on Monday arraigned before a court and charged with defiling a 17-year-old girl.
Titus Ndundu, who lost the Machakos gubernatorial seat, appeared before Senior Resident Magistrate, Irene Kahuya and pleaded not guilty to the charge.
According to the police charge sheet, Eng Ndundu allegedly committed the offence in an unknown place on May 14 2017, contrary to Section 8(1) (4) of Sexual Offenses Act No. 3 (2006).
The politician was arrested on Sunday and detained at Masii Police Station in Mwala Sub-county, according to area DCIO Joseph Muguna.

His lawyer applied to be provided with evidence which the prosecution has lined up in the case.
He was released on a Ksh100,000 bond and ordered to appear before the same court on June 11th when the case will be mentioned.
In a separate case, a man who was serving 15 years imprisonment for defiling a 17-year-old girl was freed after the court ruled that the minor had deceived him into believing she was an adult.
Kerugoya High Court Judge Lucy Gitari while releasing Isaac Nyamu Wanjiru, who appealed the sentence and conviction, also found that there was a dispute regarding the girl’s age.
While explaining her ruling, judge Gitari faulted the lower court for overlooking Nyamu’s defence.
