Senator Ledama Olekina Dares Betty Kyallo on KTN News TV

Narok Senator Ledama Olekina on Thursday challenged KTN presenter Betty Kyallo to read out the names of persons implicated in Mau forest land grabbing.

Concluding a discussion on matters about the Mau complex on KTN News, the presenter noted that the ODM legislator had failed to name the individuals in the forest's report stating: "We'll follow up on those names."

Senator Olekina reached for a document on the desk and dared Betty to read out the names - signalling that the list consisted of high profile individuals.

"I'm sure you don't want to hear the names, If you have the guts to name them, especially number two. Can you name number two?" he challenged.

Taking a glance at the list, Betty could not hide her surprise as she was clearly taken aback by the contents of the report.

In response to the dare, she conveyed: "We'll do that (release the list) after we make our own verifications. Interesting names indeed."

The Mau debate has been a hot button issue especially with the recent evictions from the forest.

Ledama has been vocal on the issue of the forest arguing that all illegal settlers should be kicked out.

"Apply the rule of law and kick the illegal settlers out then pursue those who gave them the fake titles. We are giving a serious warning since we care about the environment.

"We can joke all we want but we have to realize that enough is enough! We are tired of the drought and floods," he stated during on Wednesday during an interview on JKLive.

He explained that the cut line (the Nyayo Tea Zones) was abetting corruption as it was an illegality.

"I totally disagree with Ruto - there is nothing like a cutline! The entire Mau complex is comprised of 23 blocks - the blocks that are in context heavily encroached right now are three," Ledama added.
