5 suspected thugs were on Sunday afternoon gunned down in Nairobi at the infamous Dandora dumpsite.
Detectives also recovered a pistol and 6 bullets in the operation carried out on Sunday.
The crime bust comes only days after residents demanded the county government to remove the dumpsite in the area citing heightened insecurity.
The dump site, which lies on more than 30 acres, receives waste from nearby estates such as Kariobangi, Baba Dogo, Marigo and Korogocho.
It was reported that they robbed at gunpoint and killed at the slightest provocation in their pursuit of money.
They operate in a group with each having a specifically marked territory.
On August 20, the faceless crime buster Hessy wa Dandora warned a gun-wielding lady identified as Linar Mmbone to hand over her pistol and surrender to the police.
“Whether your account is deactivated or not, you have less than few hours to surrender to the nearest police station,” the warning posted on social media read.
Hessy has in the past warned criminals to surrender, disregard for the warnings ends up with them being shot dead.
He also takes up other mysterious characters such as Hessy wa Kayole.
