10 Kenyan Women Whose Chilling Murders Have Never Been Solved

The country had barely moved on from the savage murder of university student Sharon Otieno when news emerged about 28-year-old Monica Kimani who was killed in her Kilimani apartment.

Both these unfortunate incidences have common elements. Both ladies were at their prime, connected to influential individuals and victims of love gone sour.

This prompted Kenyans.co.ke to dig up similar events that received the glare of media but still went unsolved.

1. Sharon Otieno was found murdered in Kodera forest in Migori county after being stabbed multiple times. She lost her life and that of her unborn baby. Migori Governor Obado Okoth is being held by authorities over her death after it emerged that Sharon was pregnant for the governor.

2. Monica Kimani was killed and her throat slit at her Kilimani apartment. The murder has been linked to alleged mercenary Joseph Irungu who is also known by close quarters as Joe Jowie.

Monica’s brother intimated that at one point Joe had tried wooing her but she declined his advances.

3. Mercy Keino met her death when she attended a party at Wasini Luxury Homes where former governor William Kabogo was also in attendance. A friend who was last to see the victim alive testified that the politician had assaulted Keino at the party before she disappeared.

4. Carol Ngumbu life was cut short alongside that of former IEBC official the Late Chris Msando and dumped in Kikuyu area. Government pathologist revealed that Carol was strangled by what was believed to be a rope. She also had a deep cut on the head.

5. Careen Chepchumba was found bleeding in her eyes and neck muscles due to pressure applied on her neck by an unknown assailant. Media personality Louis Otieno was the main suspect but police maintained that there wasn't enough evidence to sustain a trial

6. Endinal Nyainda was stabbed several times in the stomach by her boyfriend after the two had a disagreement after she threatened to leave.

7. Janet Wangui died when two policemen fired 15 bullets into the vehicle she was in at a popular spot in the city park. Her husband denied any involvement despite his disapproval of the close friendship his wife had with Benard Chege who survived the attack.

8. Lucy Njambi died after being physically assaulted, was forced to swallow acid that her attackers later doused her with. She had just moved out of her husband's house after a disagreement.

9. Diana Chemutai Ronos estranged husband Eric Musila was arrested in connection with killing as the lead suspect. Police stated that  her former employee's phone was used by Musila to hoodwink the singer to a death trap.

10. Anne Wanjohi was shot five times after she refused to marry a love-struck policeman who then shot himself.
