The Direct of Public Prosecutions has revealed how conmen dupe innocent Kenyans with fake job opportunities at his office.
An official statement issued on Wednesday stated that the conmen are taking advantage of pupillage and internship opportunities at the office to trick members of public into dishing out money.
ODPP reveal that the fraudsters call using an Orange line and direct a person to visit Agakhan hospital for a medical test.
The test costs Ksh3500, which one is required to pay before booking an appointment with a ‘doctor’.
The doctor takes your details and alleges that he will send a general report to the ODPP.
He further cautions you not tell the prosecutions office that you never took the test.
After that the phone is switched off instantly and you never hear again from the conmen.
The ODPP indicated that a medical report is not a part of the requirement for internship opportunities.
Kenyans were advised to take caution in order to avoid falling prey to the fraudsters.
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) is the National Prosecuting Authority in Kenya which has been mandated by the Constitution to prosecute all criminal cases in the country.
The Office was delinked from the Attorney General’s Office in 2011 after the promulgation of the Constitution in 2010.
