Nzoia Sugar Boss Hospitalized After Alleged Kidnapping

Nzoia Sugar Managing Director Michael Kulundu was on Wednesday night allegedly kidnapped by unknown people.

The family claimed that the incident occurred in Bungoma town where the sugar boss was having a meal at a restaurant in Bungoma town.

Additional reporting by the Nation indicates that the MD was at Salmod Restaurant which is located on Kanyuyi-Sikata Road when he was allegedly accosted by the assailants.

After taking him, the abductors are believed to have dumped him in a trench near Gulf Petrol Station.

He was found around 6 AM the following day and taken to Bungoma West Private Hospital.

Confirming the incident, Bungoma South OCPD Patrick Nyangares stated, "We are currently recording statements from his family members and I want to assure everyone that we have already launched investigations into this matter with a view of bringing the culprits to book."

The hospital's clinical administrator Denis Sande stated that the MD was brought to the facility by his personal driver.

“At around 7 AM, we received a male patient by the name Michael Kulundu who happens to be the MD Nzoia Sugar Company. He had suffered multiple cut wounds on the head, right hand, chest and lower limps. The cuts were stitched

“We have conducted x-rays, CT scans and we can confirm that he is in stable condition because there were no internal injuries," Mr Sande told journalists.

Kulundu was later transferred to a referral facility for further investigations.

A family member who spoke to the media narrated how they searched for the MD the entire night upon his failure to return.

“When he failed to come home last evening, we launched a search for him the whole night. Our main focus was where he was last seen. It was until around 5 AM that we found him dumped in a trench along the road before we moved him to hospital,” the family member told the Nation.
