Babu Owino Agrees With Moses Kuria Remarks on The Presidency

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino on Thursday came out in support of his Gatundu South counterpart Moses Kuria over remarks he made about President Uhuru Kenyatta on new year's eve.

According to a tweet seen by Kenyans.co.ke, the Embakasi East MP stated that voters needed to look for leadership qualities instead of voting on tribal lines.

Babu also reiterated that voting for a president because he/she comes from your background was not an automatic guarantee that the locals would get special treatment.

Moreso, he went on to add that in 2022, he would vote for Raila Odinga regardless of whether he will be on the ballot or not.

Babu's remarks came after the Gatundu South MP was seen criticising the President for launching projects in other parts of the country excluding Central Kenya.

Kuria wondered why Kiambu County was allocated Ksh8bn and another county Ksh12 billion.

“As we usher in 2019, think very seriously. Your job is to vote, after which we reward other regions with development which is not very smart,” Kuria declared in the video.

The controversial lawmaker also mentioned the President’s recent tour of Nyanza where he opened roads, stating that the same should happen in Kiambu.

He further urged the crowd to ask the president to open development projects in Kiambu even as he awarded rehabilitated alcoholics with certificates.

Nonetheless, days after his sentiments, Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu, sent Kuria’s brother John Ngigi who was working as a Chief Officer home.

He later hit back at the county boss stating, “Introducing politics in such affairs is very unfair, but that is the kind of governor that we have in our county, unfortunately.”
