Secret Life of Riverside Attack Terrorist

People who had interacted with slain terrorist, Ali Salim Gichuge aka Idris or Farouk, have come out to narrate the kind of life he lived before taking part in the Riverside attack.

A security guard at his home in Muchatha, Ruaka told The Standard that he rarely used the main gate which is manned but preferred using a back route.

The landlord had reportedly instructed the guards not to allow them to move since they had not paid rent for two months.

On Monday morning, just a day before the attack, Violet Kemunto Omwoyo, through a pseudo name on Facebook, posted that they were selling their property.

"We are moving out of Nairobi this week so it is a quick sale. Prices slightly negotiation [sic]," read a post by Junior Red, her dummy account.

The items are an indicator that they were leading a very expensive lifestyle.

Among them was a 49-inch smart TV, a seven-seater velvet sofa set, a Ramtoms two-door fridge

Salim and his girlfriend Violet, who he lived with, had never commented on the Estate's WhatsApp group since they were added in October 2018.

A butcher, Chege Kariuki, who interacted with Salim stated that no single day passed without him buying beef.

"We only interacted with him as a customer, he was always with a light skinned girl," he told reporters.

Anthony Njenga, who sells second-hand clothes next to the butchery explains that he had run into the killer on several occasions.

"I am still shocked because you cannot imagine he would have done such kind of thing," he stated.
