Government Sets Date For Nationwide Huduma Namba Registration

The government on Thursday released the dates for the nationwide mass registration exercise for #HudumaNamba.

According to National Government Communication Centre (NGCC), the 45-day exercise will be rolled out on March 15, 2019.

The government will then carry out a 3-month data cleansing exercise before taking a month long data harmonization process.

"After data cleansing, the Assistant Chiefs will remain with the registration gadgets to continue enrolling newborns," Interior PS Karanja Kibicho conveyed.

Besides, the Assistant Chiefs will continue capturing biometrics of those who may have attained the age of 6 years.

Using  the registration kits, the Assistant Chiefs will equally be recording the deaths of people in their jurisdiction.

"This means that at any given time, we will have an updated register of all citizens in the country," PS Kibicho added.

The pilot project of the National Integrated Identity Management System (NIIMS) better known ‘Huduma Namba’ kicked off Monday in 15 selected counties with the launch held in Nyandarua County.

Kenyans have been urged to embrace the process as soon, one will not be able to access government service without the number.

According to information from the Department of Immigration Services, one will be required to produce at least an identification document which can either be a birth certificate, ID card, driving licence or the Kenya Revenue Authority PIN for them to be registered.

More importantly, every citizen above the age of six is expected to physically present her/himself to the point of registration as it‘s an exercise that cannot be delegated to third parties.
