Uhuru Withdraws Governor Waititu's Security

President Uhuru Kenyatta has withdrawn the security detail of Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu and two MPs allied to DP William Ruto, The Standard reports.

According to the publication, the president might have taken the action because the leaders continued to engage in pre-mature campaigns despite his warnings.

The affected leaders have been accompanying Ruto to various parts of the country where they have been drumming up support for him.

Also affected are MPs Kimani Ichung'wa (Kikuyu) and Alice Wahome (Kandara).

When contacted, Waititu stated that no explanation had been offered to him as to why some of his officers were withdrawn.

Ichung'wa also revealed that he had not been informed why his security had been withdrawn.

“Ask them what do they want to do with my family while I am away. They are being told its orders from above in the PS’s office," he stated.

National Assembly Clerk Michael Sialai disclosed that no member had reported the matter to him.

An unnamed politician from Central told The Standard that the withdrawal was tactical and that the leaders who were affected had dared the president.

"Let us see how they will continue playing on the opposite side when the privileges enjoyed have been taken away,” he explained.
