Moment Detectives Pounced on Legislators Demanding Bribe [VIDEO]

Ethics and Anti-corruption (EACC) officers, on Friday, arrested two Nairobi MCAs for allegedly demanding a bribe.

The detectives pounced on the two, Jared Okoth (Mathare North Ward) and David Mberia (Langata/Karen Ward) following a tip-off.

The county representatives are alleged to have been demanding a bribe of Kshs1 Million from owners of Kiragu Waichahi School when they were apprehended.

The two were handcuffed and later taken to Integrity Centre Police Station.

Police are still searching for Woodley/Kenyatta Golf Course MCA Abraham Mwangi who escaped arrest.

The EACC in a statement stated that the MCAs, as members of Culture and Social Services Committee, demanded a bribe of Kshs1 Million to make a favourable report to the Assembly to counter the initial allegation they had made that a private school in Eastleigh was illegal.

In a separate incident, three Nairobi County officials, accountants were arrested, bringing to six, the total number of officials arrested by EACC over irregular payment of Kshs68 Million.

The money was paid purportedly as legal fees. Ten more officials at large still being sought.
