Anne Waiguru Blamed Over State of Kerugoya County Referral Hospital

Netizens have faulted Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru after Citizen TV aired an expose that revealed the unpleasant state of Kerugoya County Referral Hospital.

The hospital recently laid off 200 casual workers, including cleaners. This has resulted in blocked toilets, unwashed linen, rotting garbage, and undisposed hospital waste.

Water shortage at the facility has made the situation dire by exposing patients and hospital staff to infectious diseases.

Kenya Union of Clinical Officers (KUCO) Kirinyaga Chairman Paul Mwangi revealed that two nurses at the facility had been diagnosed with Hepatitis B.

"There are several nurses who are experiencing diarrhea. Last week, two nurses were diagnosed with Hepatitis B," he stated.

Mwangi also expressed fears of a cholera outbreak if the situation is not rectified soon.

Many netizens also shared the same sentiments. They asked Waiguru to swing into action before it's too late.

David Ngure wrote, "How can a referral hospital be in this condition? It has to be closed immediately. Anne Waiguru must channel all resources, including her time to clean up the facility."

Yusuf Mukash commented, "This is totally unacceptable! Madam Anne Waiguru, what work are you doing? You are sleeping on the job."

Maraga Maangi posted, "This shows the high level of rot in Kirinyaga County. The governor should explain how the referral hospital is in such kind of condition."
