Jubilee Addresses Letter on Mariga's Race for Kibra MP

The ruling Jubilee Party has come out to categorically denounce a document doing the rounds on social media containing their alleged Kibra constituency parliamentary aspirants.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, the party's Secretary-General, Raphael Tuju termed the document as fake and urged Kenyans to ignore any claims made in the doctored letter.

"This letter doing rounds online is fake news. Please ignore and treat it with the contempt it deserves," the Party reiterated through a formal statement.

In the letter, Kenyan legendary footballer, McDonald Mariga, was one of the names presented as potential candidates.

The other candidates forwarded by the ruling party in the fake letter were Morris Peter Kinyanjui, Mukinyingi Walter Trenk, Said Ibrahim and Doreen Khayanga Wasike.

Tuju had earlier on announced that the party would indeed field a candidate for the fast-looming Kibra by-election.

"Following consultations within the Party Leadership with respect to Kibra Constituency, we would like to communicate to our membership that the Jubilee Party will be fielding a candidate in the forthcoming Kibra Constituency by-election," an excerpt of the party's official statement disclosed.

Nairobi senator Johnson Sakaja, had earlier urged the Opposition party and Jubilee to settle on one candidate for the Kibra parliamentary seat.

He insisted that the late area MP Ken Okoth, believed in peace and supported the handshake wholeheartedly.
