Fiery Anne Kiguta Corners Orengo on Live TV

Fiery K24 TV anchor Anne Kiguta, on Sunday, September 22, cornered Senate's Minority Leader James Orengo during an interview that touched on President Uhuru Kenyatta's leadership.

What, however, exposed Kiguta's tigress interviewing skills was when she asked the senator about controversial lawyer Miguna Miguna's deportation saga that played out at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in 2018.

Orengo appeared reluctant in accepting that the handshake had influenced his arguments and was taking a soft stance on the Miguna issue.

"I am not saying it is his turn (to be in exile), in fact, he was in exile at the time a lot of us were in exile...I think we should come out of the mood of lamentations," answered Orengo to Kiguta's tough pointed question on whether he was downplaying Miguna's suffering.

The lawmaker went on to urge the embattled lawyer to carry on with his attempts of returning into the country and Kiguta called him out on the same.

"I am listening to you but it sounds like you are sending him on a mission that you know is mission impossible because he has tried it before," wondered the show host.

Orengo later attempted to go around the questioning by comparing the Kenyan government to that of Donald Trump (US) and Ukraine when the anchor, seemingly fed up, plainly claimed that Miguna was considered problematic by the majority.

"He is just problematic, isn't he? That's just the real issue that Miguna is not the kind of individual that any party can contain," she added.

This made Orengo relate his own experience while he was in exile including the time his visa was cancelled by Britain before finally asking Miguna to toughen up.

“ODM has not abandoned Miguna Miguna. Nasa lawyers represented him all the way to the Court of Appeal and got orders to allow him back. And many of us have been in exile, the likes of Kirauti Murungi, Koigi wa Wamwere and Makau Mutua…toughen up,” stated Orengo.

Miguna, however, was not impressed with the senator's claims and lashed out at him on Twitter labeling him a fraud.

"James Orengo is an ugly face of fraud in Kenya. As an advocate, he went to court and obtained orders in my favour against the Uhuru Kenyatta regime. None of them has been obeyed. But instead of pursuing those disobeying court orders, he praises them," he posted.

Miguna has stayed in exile in Canada since February 2018.
