Crucial Tradition That Led to Cohen's Last Minute Burial Postponement

The late Dutch tycoon, Tob Cohen's burial, has been postponed to Tuesday, September 24.

The burial was meant to take place at the Jewish Cemetery on Monday, September 23 on Prof Wangari Mathai Road in Nairobi.

It is reported that Jewish traditions require that a total number of ten Jewish priests during the ceremony and a Rabbi in line with the religion.

However, only eight priests were present to grace the occasion, warranting the burial's postponement.

Cohen will now be laid to rest at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Citizen Digital reported that Cohen was ranked highly in the Jewish community, hence, a total of ten priests, each with their own verse were required for him to be buried.

On Monday, September 23, Cohen's wife Sarah Wairimu, was allowed to attend her late husband's burial.

Her lawyer, Philip Murgor, is expected to go back to court so as to seek a variation order allowing Wairimu to attend the ceremony on Tuesday.

The Dutch billionaire's body was found buried in his home, more than 60 days after he had been reported missing.

"Cohen was murdered in his own residence. It is a gruesome murder. They took their time to kill innocent Cohen. I will not describe much now, but in the subsequent unfolding of events," DCI boss George Kinoti told the press.
