Uhuru's Niece Heartfelt Message to Slain Brother

It may have passed unnoticed to many people, but September 21 was the 6th anniversary of the Westgate Mall terror attack that cost the lives of 71, including 5 Kenyan soldiers.

Approximately 200 people were reported injured in the bloody and nerve-wracking attack, with some being maimed for life.

Amongst the victims of the Westgate massacre were President Uhuru Kenyatta's nephew Mbugwa Mwangi and his fiancee Rosemary Wahito, both of whom unfortunately perished.

What saddened not only the Kenyatta family but also the entire country was that the two were killed while they were in the late stages of planning their wedding ceremony.

Nana Gecaga, the KICC CEO and sister to Mbugwa Mwangi, on Saturday, September 21, posted a heartfelt tribute to her brother and his fiancé.

In the post that she shared on her social media accounts, she related that she was still smarting from the memory that he left behind after his brief life on earth came to an abrupt halt.

“I pass the picture of you every day when I come down the stairs in my house and smile because I remember a story every day of our time together and everything we went through, the tears, the laughter and the joy you brought to all our lives,” she wrote.

The two were buried six days later, on September 27, in Uhuru's home village of Ichaweri in Gatundu North, in a ceremony that was much different from any other.

Wahito was buried in the gown that she had been planning to wear at her wedding and Mbugua in his suit.

The church was also decorated with flowers and the color themes the two had chosen for their wedding.

“May your souls continue to rest in eternal peace... our angels you will always continue to be remembered and celebrated always. I love and miss you so much," she concluded.
