Tour of Uhuru's Favourite Spots at State House [VIDEO]

President Uhuru Kenyatta once took former Citizen TV journalist Jacque Maribe on a tour of his favourite spots at State House during a one on one interview.

It started with a makeup session which the president allowed to be captured on camera.

Outside the president’s office is a veranda overlooking a beautiful garden.

It is on the bench on that verandah that some of the most important decisions of the state are made.

“This is actually my favourite place to unwind,” Uhuru told Maribe.

The eye-catching lawn in front of Uhuru’s bench is filled with life-size carvings of elephants.

“It helps you reflect and calms you down from a hectic day.

"Regardless of political affiliations, or what my personal views and feelings are, you have to be able to make decisions that sometimes may be hard but are in the best interests of the country and sometimes you need to internalize some of those very difficult decisions you must make,” President Kenyatta described the garden.

Interesting to note is that Uhuru brought the concept of life-size carvings to State House when he assumed power in 2013.

“As a family and especially my wife, she’s very much into conservation so having these models consistently reminds us of our natural heritage and the need to protect it for future generations,” the president explained.
